Base rates flat, fuel surcharges down in February: CGFI

by Truck News

TORONTO, Ont. — The total cost of ground transportation for Canadian shippers decreased 0.2% in February, compared to the month earlier.

That’s according to the Canadian General Freight Index compiled by Nulogx. The base rate remained flat compared to January while fuel surcharges decreased to 10.54% of the base rate compared to 12.09% in January.

“Overall, total freight costs decreased marginally, which was reflective of the drop in fuel costs. Domestic truckload showed a strong increase while the other sectors saw decreases, in particular transborder LTL,” said Doug Payne, president and COO, Nulogx. “Year-over-year, cross-border LTL remains in positive territory, while cross-border truckload and LTL and domestic LTL are negative.”
