PORTLAND, Ore. — Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) today broke ground at the site of its new corporate headquarters on Swan Island in Portland, Ore.

Construction will begin immediately, the company announced, cementing the its future in Portland.

“With our roots firmly planted in Portland over 70 years ago, Daimler Trucks North America is proud to lay the foundation for continued prosperity with a headquarters campus designed for the company’s long-term business success and a world-class workplace for employees,” said Martin Daum, president and CEO of Daimler Trucks North America.

Daimler says it aims to create an environmentally-friendly presence in the area, and will achieve LEED Platinum certification – the highest such certification available. It began by recycling 96% of the material that resulted from the demolition phase of the project.

DTNA is investing $150 million into the project. The 268,000 sq.-ft. facility is slated to open in early 2016.

  • Hello, please ask MR. Martin Daum why is it that Western star advertises that they can custom build a truck but when i want to order a 4700 SB series with 82 or 68 inch sleeper with DD13 AND DETROIT 12 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND DETROIT REAR END [ all DAIMLER parts ] they do not want to do it?
My reasoning is i do not need a big nose in front of my truck and i need a double bunk with a reasonable size be [ 68 inch sleeper would do ] and i do not need all the cabinets. please pass my need to MR.Martin Daum and tell him to look at his own website for Western star.
    Respectfully, Kam Mehrani
