MTA’s new annual general meeting format a hit

WINNIPEG, Man. — The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) says the new format of its annual general meeting was a hit.

The association hosted a one-day conference along with a fundraising dinner. The focus of the Apr. 10 conference was Transportation 2020…Driving the Future. It looked to expose industry to technologies and tools they might not have access to as individual companies.

Speakers included Jamie Hall of SafeWork Manitoba, who discussed a new provincial safety certification program for the trucking industry. Kelly Henderson of the Trucking Human Resources Sector Council Atlantic, spoke about the link between literacy and safety.

Keynote speaker Yves Provencher of PIT gave an overview of the testing and implementation of efficiency-boosting technologies.

Breakout sessions were then held in the afternoon to address other topics of interest.
