Spot market freight volumes climb in October: TransCore

TORONTO, Ont. — Canadian spot market freight volumes increased 7% in October, according to the TransCore Link Logistics Canadian Freight Index.

Year-over-year, load volumes were up 8%, according to the index.

Cross-border load volumes averaged 68% of the month’s total, with cross-border loads originating in Canada up 15% compared to the same month last  year. Cross-border loads originating in the US for delivery in Canada were up 1% compared to last October.

Intra-Canada load volumes were up 7% year-over-year, and accounted for 26% of the total load volume.

Equipment postings for October were up 10% compared to September, and up 4% over last year’s levels. The equipment-to-load ratio increased in October to 2.63 from 2.56.
