BYHALIA, Miss. — Volvo Group has inaugurated its new $70-million central distribution centre in Byhalia, Miss.

The one million square foot facility will support the Mack and Volvo truck brands, as well as marine and construction equipment, the company announced.

The DC is located about 25 miles southeast of Memphis, Tenn. and will employ about 250 people.

“The Volvo Group is pleased to officially open its new Central Distribution Center in Byhalia,” said Christer Svärd, senior vice-president of Volvo Group Logistics Services. “The new facility represents the hard work and dedication of our community leaders, employees of the new facility and the Volvo Group. The CDC will enable us to more efficiently handle an increased volume of parts distribution, while also significantly improving customer service.”

Volvo says the facility was designed to be energy efficient. It will maximize natural daylight throughout the day and reduce energy consumption.
