HX Series headlines International Truck announcements at Work Truck Show

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – International Truck announced its new vocational HX Series, a model David Hillman, vice-president and general manager of International Truck vocational product line, said has the look, style and performance for success.

Hillman said the design of new 520, 515, 615 and 620 family of HX Series vocational trucks was based on four pillars: strength, productivity, style and performance.

“These trucks have been engineered to perform,” Hillman said.

Hillman added that the new trucks could now be ordered and are attracting repeat and new customers.

“This is just the beginning of an all-new product surge over the next two years,” Hillman said.

Also unveiled at the Work Truck Show, International Truck and Cummins are again working together to bring customers the International DuraStar and WorkStar models powered by Cummins’ ISL9 engine.

“Adding the Cummins ISL9 to our lineup is a key part of our strategy to offer the most comprehensive options of proven components in the industry to our customers,” said Bill Kozek, president of International truck and parts. “The addition of the Cummins ISL9 to DuraStar and WorkStar models provides customers with a winning combination of uptime, performance and durability.”

The ISL9-liter engine is rated up to 380 horsepower and 1,250 lb.-ft. of torque, with flexible horsepower and torque ratings for medium-duty and vocational applications.

The engine is also available with the Navistar N9 engine in the DuraStar and Navistar N9 and N10 in the WorkStar.

“Cummins and International have worked closely together to engineer the ISL9 in the DuraStar and WorkStar, offering a unique value package combination of performance and reliability,” said Kozek. “With the launch of the ISL9, we continue to focus on meeting the needs of our customers by delivering innovative, best-in-class products for a wide range of applications.”

The third announcement by International was that it would be offering the Bendix Wingman Fusion in its DuraStar model.

The Bendix Wingman Fusion is a collision mitigation system that reduces the chance of drivers getting into an accident by using radar, cameras, the vehicle’s braking system and Bendix’s SafetyDirect system.

“Our uptime philosophy goes beyond our product quality,” said Kozek. “Uptime is also dependent on the safety of a driver during operation of our trucks, and our goal is to offer the most innovative solutions to prevent any disruption of an operator’s ability to fulfill their job.”

The Wingman Fusion will be available for order on the DuraStar this month, and will begin production in June.
