LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Prestone is now offering a new heavy-duty test kit, test strips and refractometer to help fleets better manage their antifreeze/coolant system.

“These new Prestone Command heavy-duty testing products are the culmination of more than 100 years of experience in antifreeze/coolant technology,” said Colin Dilley, vice-president of technology for Prestone Products Corporation. “Every fleet manager knows antifreeze/coolant testing is critical to maintaining modern heavy duty engines and ROI, and as industry technology leaders, it’s our goal to raise the bar in that regard.”

Prestone offers tools and kits to help fleets analyze antifreeze/coolant performance.

The coolant analysis program offered by Prestone offers a snapshot of what is happening inside heavy-duty equipment, while also revealing the condition of fluid, engine wear, corrosion and contamination levels.

“At Prestone, we know optimized antifreeze/coolant maintenance is essential to keep heavy-duty fleets operating at top efficiency,” said Mike Henning, Prestone marketing manager, heavy duty. “The new Prestone Command coolant testing analysis program, test strips and refractometer provide a range of convenient and easy-to-use testing solutions while continuing to broaden our line of heavy duty antifreeze/coolant products, making us the go-to source for heavy-duty under-the-hood care.”

The testing kit can extend drain intervals and reduce downtime, Prestone says, by allowing maintenance managers to catch issues before they lead to major failures. The kit’s contents allow for the easy collection of samples for analysis by the Prestone Command laboratory. A detailed lab exam will report levels of molybdate, nitrite, chloride, sulfates and corrosion products as well as silicates.

Prestone Command test strips help maintain the proper level of supplemental coolant additives for all applications. The one-step test strips come with colour-coded charts, instructions and easy-to-read results, the company says, taking the guesswork out of cooling system analysis.

The Prestone Command refractometer for DEF fluid and ethylene glycol-based antifreeze/coolant provides information on concentration levels.
