INTERNATIONAL DEBUTS NEW ES SPEC’ AT EXPOCAM

Another ExpoCam has come and gone and it was a busy one. The floor was packed with exhibitors and there were very few lulls in activity as waves of visitors surged through the Place Bonaventure halls.

International introduced at the show a new Canadianized spec’ for its ProStar ES. The ES 110 combines the latest ProStar aerodynamic packaging with a powertrain that’s optimized for fuel economy and yet approved for gross combination weights of up to 110,000 lbs.

At its core is a 16-speed UltraShift Plus automated transmission, mated to a Cummins ISX15 or Navistar N13 engine. I drove a version of this truck late last year. Challenger was running a few of them and other fleets are also enjoying the increased versatility this package brings over, say, a SmartAdvantage powertrain, which is limited to 80,000 lbs.

Here’s my review of the ProStar with 16-speed transmission and ISX15. And here’s some more info on the very snazzily painted ES 110 we saw in Montreal.
