Quick Truck Lube celebrates first year

by Steven Macleod

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – The sooner Gurjinder Johal watches customers drive away from his shop the better.

Johal opened the Quick Truck Lube shop – on Hwy. 401 at exit 268 – a little more than a year ago and has enjoyed steady growth in the shop’s inaugural year of dedicated service to commercial trucks.

“It’s a unique concept with the drive-thru capability; most dealerships and oil change places have you leave your truck there,” noted Johal. “This is just like drive-thru lube service for cars and you can get in and out in 20 to 30 minutes.”

Although Quick Truck Lube specializes in oil changes, the shop also takes care of transmission and differential fluids, and some lighting work, much like a car lube service.

To further expedite the service, drivers are greeted while still seated in their cabs so the shop can obtain pertinent information like services required, mileage, type of filter and type of oil; without the driver having to go in and out of the reception area a number of times, Johal explained. The driver then drives the truck into the bay and waits in the reception area for about the same amount of time it takes to have a cup of coffee, which is offered complimentary.

“We were in trucking for more than 10 years, we know all about truckers’ needs because me and my partner were both drivers,” commented Johal. “Being in transportation for 10 to 12 years we know this is a good kind of service.”

After a successful first year in business, which saw Quick Truck Lube achieve steady growth throughout the year, Johal celebrated the shop’s first anniversary throughout September with special service prices. Positioned in a transportation hub, Johal noted the shop should continue to grow with 25,000 trucks passing every day. Even with Quick Truck Lube’s growth and a high volume of passing traffic, there is no appointment necessary and it’s still possible to be on the road again in 20 to 30 minutes.

“We focus on customer services. Normally we do not get backed up because we keep enough employees around to keep the trucks flowing through,” said the owner. “We can service up to six trucks at one time.”

The shop carries filters to match all brands of engines and regular pricing varies depending on the type of engine, and whether original filters or aftermarket filters are used. Complete with three drive-thru bays, Quick Truck Lube also provides ample space to drop a trailer or turn trucks around.

In the future Johal may open a few more Quick Truck Lube shops in the Toronto region, but for now the owner will be happy to see customers at the current location, for a quick visit.
