MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Volvo Trucks Canada recently held a barbecue lunch for its employees and suppliers courtesy of the Volvo-sponsored Budweiser Big Rig.

The truck and trailer, adorned in Budweiser colours, were on display at Volvo Trucks Canada’s Mississauga headquarters Aug. 24. The trailer, equipped with a grill and some interactive games, was open for business over the lunch hour.

The trailer, which visits dozens of events between April and December, was being hauled by Volvo’s new flagship truck, the VT 880.

“We really felt this was a good opportunity to put our flagship truck out to the public for everybody to see,” said Carol Fawcett, with Volvo Trucks Canada. “It builds brand awareness and for people in the trucking industry, it gives them the opportunity to see the truck and look at all the features and benefits in an environment where there’s no pressure. We’re not trying to sell them anything, it’s just an opportunity for them to view the truck and see it for themselves.”

This is the third year Volvo Trucks has sponsored the three Budweiser Big Rigs. Each of the rigs covers a different region of Canada, visiting music festivals, sporting events and dealership open houses.

“It’s on the road all the time and we get great exposure from that,” Fawcett said.

The Mississauga stop was organized by Volvo Trucks Canada’s social committee.
