Translogic seeing benefits from e-logs

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Translogic Express has announced it is automating its hours-of-service, using Shaw Tracking’s GPS fleet tracking product.

The Automated Hours of Service product is an electronic on-board recording system that creates real-time logs of drivers’ hours.

“We’re very pleased with our decision to enable Shaw Tracking’s Automated Hours of Service and so are our drivers. It’s saved them at least 30 minutes of time compared to using paper logs,” said Prentice Wilson, regional manager, Translogic.

He said drivers are so happy with the system, the company will add the program to 100 of their trucks based out of Mississauga.

The benefits of e-logs extend to the back office as well, the company claims. Dispatch has better access to driver information via a Web portal, enabling them to improve scheduling.

The company also says its HoS auditing has gone from four to five hours a day, down to 20 minutes – a 93% reduction in time.
