Permits available online in New Brunswick

FREDERICTON, N.B. — The Service New Brunswick Web site now allows that province’s truckers to apply for oversized vehicles and loads permits online.

The new service allows truckers to apply and pay for the $13 permits by visiting http://www.snb.ca/. Department of Transportation staff will evaluate the application by the end of the next business day and if the application is approved, the permit will be faxed to the applicant.

"Putting this service online is another step forward in reducing red tape for the trucking industry," says Transportation Minister, Percy Mockler. "The hard working people in this industry can now apply for these permits from the comfort of their own offices or homes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is the kind of convenience that this government wants to provide across all programs and services."

The initiative is part of the government’s eNB.ca strategy and the Department of Transportation’s partnership with Service New Brunswick. Mockler says if the program is successful, it may pave the way for more permit applications to be available online.
