Payne Transportation names its driver of the year
WINNIPEG, Man. – Payne Transportation named owner-operator John Unrau its 2016 driver of the year during the company’s annual awards gala Nov. 25.
Unrau was one of six finalists for the award, with Brian Kemp being first runner up and John Bekus, William Friesen, James Wall and Mark Little rounding out the nominees.
“Congratulations to all the drivers celebrating years of safe driving and those celebrating five, 10 and 15 years of service,” said company president Tom Payne. “We know that in this industry achievements like this are not without hard work and a dedication to continuous improvement, hence our mantra …. No Payne, No Gain.”
Payne Transportation also held an auction that raised $2,500 for the Winnipeg organization Siloam Mission, which provides meals, clothing and hope services to those in need.
“We believe in the positive results that come from being a good corporate citizen and supporting local charities is something we have always done and will continue to do,” said Payne.
In three years, the company has raised over $7,500 to the cause.
