Freightliner Cascadia, 2010 Detroit Diesel DD13 demonstrated at US Capitol
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Freightliner and Detroit Diesel visited Capitol Hill recently with a 2010 Cascadia day cab and DD 13 engine with BlueTec selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology.
The manufacturers were showcasing the 2010 emissions technology which will improve fuel economy for heavy-duty trucks while reducing air emissions. The demonstration was part of the Diesel Technology Forum Clean Diesel Power event.
Company officials told lawmakers there that compared to an EPA07 engine, the BlueTec-equipped Detroit Diesel will reduce fuel consumption by about 11,500 gallons over an average lifetime, saving the operator about US$30,000 in fuel costs and at the same time slashing CO2 emissions by 124 US tonnes per truck and practically eliminating NOx.
