MONTAGUE, P.E.I. -- Several trucks and the shop of a family-owned trucking company were gutted on Sunday but the company is still trucking.
The headquarters of family-owned trucking company Morley Annear on P.E.I. burnt to the ground, with the loss of equipment alone pegged at $250,000, according to local media reports. Three transport trucks and other equipment was destroyed in the blaze.
Still, the determined owners set up a temporary shop in downtown Montague and dispatched two trucks Sunday and Monday to continue serving their customers. The damage caused by the fire has caused the community to rally around the company.
General manager Scott Annear told the CBC that "Everybody's calling. It's been tremendous support from the community and other businesses. It's been non-stop."
The trucking firm employed 38 people, making it one of the bigger local employers.
