BOCA RATON, Fla. — Contrans Group has been recognized by PeopleNet as a 2012 Innovator of the Year.

The company was recognized for the role it played in helping to develop PeopleNet’s NaviGo system, which through its Fuel Ahead feature points drivers to the nearest fuel stops offering the best prices.

The award was presented during PeopleNet’s 10th annual user conference. Contrans was one of several fleets recognized as innovators.

“Our user conference is a unique time when all of our customers have the opportunity to benefit from the successes of others. It is an ideal backdrop for recognizing customers who have led the way in getting the most out of their technology investment. We are grateful to Contrans Corporation, Holiday Companies, McLane Companies, and Saddle Creek Logistics Services for sharing their creative, pioneering contributions,” said Randy Boyles, vice-president of tailored solutions with PeopleNet.

Contrans began using PeopleNet’s platform four years ago and has rolled it out through its 1,400-truck fleet.

Most recently, Contrans worked with PeopleNet to develop a program that enables in-cab printing through Blu.2, which PeopleNet says is a new capability.
