CALGARY, Alta. -- The Alberta Motor Transport Association’s (AMTA) annual summer-long salute to truckers is winding down this month with a pair of driver appreciation barbeques. Since June, the AMTA has been partnering with Alberta enforcement officers to provide free barbeque lunches for truckers at select inspection stations.

This summer’s two remaining barbeques will take place at the scale in Demmitt on Sept. 12 and Balzac on Sept. 21. Drivers are invited to drop by for lunch at these locations between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for complimentary swag items and a free lunch.

“Hosting the series of barbeques takes a great deal of support and effort by industry and government. AMTA extends sincere thanks to Alberta Transportation, volunteers from the AMTA board of directors who help cook and serve food and refreshments and sponsors who so generously throw their support behind this program,” AMTA officials said in a release.
