PORTLAND, Ore. -- Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has announced its Detroit DT12 automated mechanical transmission is now available with the DD16 engine in Freightliner Cascadia trucks.

Both sleeper and day cab Cascadias can be spec’d with the DT12/DD16 pairing, which covers all horsepower and torque ratings available from Detroit engines, the company announced.

The DT12 when mated to the DD16 offers a dual plate clutch to handle the big bore power of the 15.6-litre engine. The transmission will only be offered with overdrive gearing.

The DD16 is rated up to 600 hp and 2,050 lb.-ft. of torque. Matched with the DT12, it’s ideal for heavy and specialized hauling applications, Daimler says.
