LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Eaton has added six new models to its UltraShift Plus automated manual transmission line, in addition to one designed specifically for Navistar engines.
The new offerings were designed to complement the fuel-friendly features of the newer lower-torque engines, Eaton announced at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
The additions include three vocational construction series (VCS) transmissions and three vocational multi-purpose series (VMS) offerings, available in 10- and 11-speed configurations with torque from 1,050 to 1,250 lb-ft.
“This is another example of how Eaton is constantly expanding its breadth of products with customizable transmission solutions to best meet the needs of our trucking industry customers,” said Shane Groner, North America product planning manager for Eaton’s Commercial Vehicle Transmission Division. “By lowering the torque ratings in these transmissions, we now have an ideal platform of models for customers who do not require the higher torque engines and are looking for the most efficient transmission technology available.”
The new offerings are ideal for municipal, cement mixer, dump truck and other vocational fleets, Eaton officials said.
Also new from Eaton is an UltraShift Plus transmission family designed exclusively to work with Navistar engines. The 16-speed automated transmission features a 17% step between gears to maximize time in the optimum rpm range.
The new UltraShift Plus Linehaul Small-Step Efficiency (LSE) transmission will first be paired with the International MaxxForce 13, and then will be offered with the Cummins ISX15.
“The direct drive design also boosts the efficiency of the transmission gear train, to further promote excellent fuel consumption,” said Groner. “All of the other features and benefits of the UltraShift Plus are included in this newest addition to our lineup.”
