MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- FedEx is expecting to have its busiest day in history on Dec. 10, when the company will move a projected 19 million shipments through its global ground, express and freight networks. The current record was set last Dec. 12 with 17.2 million shipments.
For the overall holiday season between the US Thanksgiving and Christmas, FedEx forecasts more than 280 million shipments to move through its worldwide shipping networks. That number would represent a year-over-year volume increase of more than 13% compared to 2011 when 247 million shipments were processed.
“Today’s announcement clearly illustrates that businesses and consumers worldwide continue to trust FedEx and our suite of services for their holiday shipping needs,” said Lisa Lisson, president of FedEx Express Canada. “Our team of 6,000 employees at FedEx Express Canada will play a vital role in making the holiday season a global success for FedEx and our customers. We are ready.”
