COLUMBUS, Ind. — January marked the strongest first month of the year for net trailer orders since 2006, according to the latest data from ACT Research.

The industry analyst noted there were 26,000 net orders placed in January, down slightly from December 2011.

“The trailer industry is now entering its third year of the recovery cycle,” said Frank Maly, director, commercial vehicle transportation with ACT Research. “Rising backlogs and low levels of cancellation activity add to the strength of demand for trailers. Availability of component supplies will support slow growth in build in 2012, but quantum leaps in production do not appear to be in the cards at this time.”

The latest figures were reported in ACT’s State of the Industry: US Trailers report.
