GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Mack Trucks is taking its highly touted Super Econodyne powertrain package on the road.
The Super Econodyne North American Tour kicked off this month and will eventually roll into Canada in 2013. Along the way it’ll visit Mack dealers throughout the US and Canada.
On display will be the Mack Pinnacle with Super Econodyne powertrain package, consisting of the Mack MP8-445SE engine and mDrive transmission. Collectively, the package is delivering fuel savings of up to 3.5%, Mack claims.
“This tour is a dynamic way for customers to experience first-hand the benefits of a Mack integrated powertrain solution,” said John Walsh, Mack Trucks vice-president of marketing. “Like all Mack Pedigree powertrains – Mack engine, Mack transmission, Mack axles – Super Econodyne capitalizes on the seamless communication that comes with the front-to-back use of proprietary components. The result is a powerful, performance-driven ride that enhances customer profitability, as well as driver satisfaction.”
The Super Econodyne engine runs about 200 rpm slower at highway speed than traditional engines, cruising at 1,160 rpm at 65 mph, the company says. That alone contributes a fuel savings of 2% while the Mack C125 drive axles add another 1.5% in fuel savings.
