More tickets handed out during this year's Operation Corridor truck blitz

ORILLIA, Ont. -- The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) teamed with the Ministry of Transportation earlier this week to conduct a 24-hour commercial vehicle inspection blitz dubbed Operation Corridor.

The results weren’t too pretty. Officers laid 372 charges over the 24-hour period June 14-15. Sixty-eight speeding fines were handed out, 193 equipment charges were laid and 89 trucks were placed out of service.

Last year, 320 charges were laid during the same blitz with 86 of them for speeding.

Had enough!

Ontario is becoming a JOKE , A saftey blitz has nothing to do with being safe its now a buisness and becoming bigger!Has anyone seen the new SUPER COOP there building at PUTNAM RD just outside of london, I'll tell ya from personal experience that when I go thru the coop or get pulled in for an inspection these officers make me feel like a crimminal and all I'm doing is my job ,the mto is just another agency that collects tax for the province, rules regulations legislation speed limiters SPIF rules keep it up ONTARIO and no body will want to do buisness here. The bottom line here is money, a judge in st catharines already threw out a speeding fine saying it was unconstitutional, I hope all these truckers and companies start standing up to the MTO and the province instead of just going along their BS!!

With speed-limiters set at 105 kph, the OPP were pulling drivers over for doing 5 kph over the speed limit of 100 kph? Absolute nonsense and a waste of time. I guess it was more a tax collection time for the OPP for the bankrupt Ontario Fibrel government. Im sure OTA and the Bradely ilk supported this. Sad to see the hole Ontario is digging.
