NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Reyco Granning has designed a new air-ride trailer suspension that is more resistant to damage from curb impacts.

The DockMaster 400 Air Ride Slider was introduced at the Technology & Maintenance Council meetings.

The company says it designed its latest suspension to help fleets dealing with a driver shortage, stretched budgets and driver health and safety concerns.

“The DM400’s unique design has a resulted in a ‘just right’ balance of strength and weight, the hallmark of the DM400,” says Reyco Granning vice-president of trailers, Joe Gallo.

He said the new suspension is 33% stronger than competitive models, based on curb impact testing.

The DM400 features seven gauge, nine-inch Super-C frame rails and unitized, wrap-around hangers. Gallo said the design was developed knowing new drivers are coming into the job market as a result of the driver shortage, and in some cases some curbing is expected to occur.

“In rigorous tests, our competitors start to buckle at 38,000 lbs. The DM400 doesn’t even begin to buckle at 50,000 lbs,” Gallo says.

The new suspension comes with a seven-year warranty, which the company says bests the industry standard. The suspension can be spec’d on dry freight trailers, refrigerated trailers and some intermodal applications.
