LANGLEY, B.C. -- More than 40 of the best professional truck drivers from around the province will take part in the annual B.C. Professional Truck Driving Championships this Saturday. Five classes of competition will challenge drivers operating trucks from straight trucks to large Btrain units.
Three tests will showcase contestants’ knowledge and skill: a written exam, a vehicle pre-trip inspection with planted defects, and an obstacle course for drivers to display mastery of manoeuvring, cornering and judging distance operating their trucks.
All contestants must be accident-free for 12 months prior to the championships. Winners will represent B.C. at the National Championships in New Brunswick this fall.
The event will take place at the Tradex Centre in Abbotsford 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23. There is no admission and spectators are welcome, according to event organizers. The event will also feature family entertainment and concessions for breakfast and lunch. For more information, visit www.bctrucking.com.
