Transportation rates climb slightly in October: CGFI
TORONTO, Ont. — Ground transportation rates went up 0.8% in October, according to the latest data from the Canadian General Freight Index.
The base rate was up 1.2% compared to September levels, while average fuel surcharges assessed by carriers increased marginally.
Fuel represented 20.96% of the base rates in October, compared to 20.12% in September, according to the index.
“This is the third consecutive month of total cost increases,” said Doug Payne, president and COO, Nulogx. “Total costs and base freight costs are closing the gap at 1.0% and 0.96% respectively below last year.”
