WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) has compiled a list of the most dangerous spots for truck rollovers in the US.

The researcher has investigated more than 50,000 crash records over a nine-year period for the report, released today as the first phase of a three-part research initiative.

The database covers 31 states, providing important information to the trucking industry and transportation officials.

“This research is not only important to the trucking industry, as it informs drivers of potentially dangerous locations, but it should also jumpstart the dialogue between industry and government to work together to improve safety at these sites,” said Steve Niswander, vice-president of safety policy and regulatory relations for Groendyke Transport.

ATRI has created an interactive rollover map that highlights problem areas. Next, ATRI will investigate the identified locations to better understand causal factors.
