FALCONER, N.Y. -- US Xpress will spec’ Truck-Lite’s LED headlights on 1,950 new Freightliner Cascadia trucks in 2014, Truck-Lite announced.

Freightliner made the LED headlights standard on its Cascadia and Cascadia Evolution models earlier this year, becoming the first OEM to do so.

“We continually work throughout our organization to educate and prepare our employees on the safe operation of all aspects of our fleet,” said Max Fuller, US Express CEO. “We continue to research and deploy new technologies, enhance existing processes, and identify opportunities for improvement. Standardizing with the Truck-Lite LED headlights is confirmation of our commitment to these standards.”

Gerry Mead, vice-president of maintenance at US Express added, “Safety is always a key concern when we spec equipment. We look to be innovative and investigate those technologies that not only meet or exceed our safety standards, but they also produce a ROI by reducing costs. Truck-Lite LED headlights exceed our criteria and create a win-win situation for us. They increase our drivers’ field of vision, LED headlights last longer, and they draw less power than standard bulbs, thus reducing CSA violations which in turn equals lower maintenance costs.”
