The Teamsters Union is waiting for more details before making any
comments about the job cuts at Canadian Pacific...
LAVAL, QC, Dec. 5, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Teamsters Union will not make
any comment regarding the announcement of impending layoffs at Canadian
Pacific until the details are known.
The company has announced its intention to eliminate 4500 jobs, but has
yet to meet with the leaders of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference
(TCRC) which represents conductors, yardmen, locomotive engineers and
railway traffic controllers.
"It is difficult for us to evaluate the scope of the decision,"
commented Doug Finnson, Vice-President of the TCRC which represents
nearly 5,000 workers at Canadian Pacific. "We will wait to meet with
management to find out the details, and will reserve comment until
later."
