CarriersEdge introduces new driver training course on fuel economy

by Truck News

MARKHAM, Ont. — CarriersEdge  announced it has added a new Maximizing Fuel Efficiency course to its driver training courses.

The announcement was made at the Truckload Carriers Association 2016 Safety & Security Division Annual Meeting.

The course was designed to help drivers understand their role in reducing fuel costs, CarriersEdge said.

“Maximizing Fuel Efficiency gives drivers a better understanding of the importance of reducing fuel consumption,” said Mark Murrell, v.p., sales & marketing at CarriersEdge. “Fluctuating fuel costs as well as environmental impact are challenges for trucking companies, but drivers remain the biggest variable when it comes to fuel consumption. Many trucking operations are successfully using fuel efficiency competition and bonus programs, but drivers also need to understand the behaviors and operating practices they can use to decrease fuel use.”

The training program uses real world scenarios to provide participants with a comparison of effective and ineffective fuel saving techniques, as well.
