LONDON, England – Italian company Advicy Technology has released a new app and Bluetooth sensor to prevent truck drivers from dozing off while behind the wheel.

The new product is called Advicy Drive and it uses a wearable sensor technology called photoplethysmography, to monitor heart rate and cardiovascular system changes.

The small, 11g sensor can be clipped to a wristband or placed comfortably under your clothes where it can be in contact with your skin.

The sensor is able to pick up if your attention has dipped and sounds a loud alarm to alert you of our drowsy state. The company claims in this so the sensor is “potentially saving your life and the lives of others” as more than 20% of car accidents around the world are caused by people falling asleep while driving.

You can learn more about the new product or purchase one yourself by visiting the company’s Kickstarter campaign here.
