LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — Even though it’s mainly the swoopy, futuristic-looking tractor that catches peoples’ eyes, the trailer portion of the Wal-Mart WAVE concept vehicle is equally innovative.

Desgined by Great Dane, the trailer is built of carbon fibre panels to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency, and it incorporates other green elements as well. During an interview conducted with Truck News inside the trailer while it was on display at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS), Adam Hill, vice-president of sales and product engineering at Great Dane Trailers talked about what makes the trailer different from others on the road.

  • The truck is quite a marvel in that it is so light, and so being would think it would be fuel efficient. Hope the trucking industry takes note.
