MONCTON, N.B. — A 29-year-old man who walked away from a minimum-security prison on Saturday is still being sought by the RCMP.

Russell Barry Dacey, originally from Halifax, was serving a one-year sentence for break and enter and theft at the Westmorland Institution in Dorchester.

Mr. Dacey has been incarcerated since July 4. On Saturday, sometime between the prison’s 4:45 and 9 p.m. headcounts, Mr. Dacey walked away from the prison.

Prison officials and police believe he may be heading for Halifax. Although Dacey is not reported to have a history of violent crimes and does not pose a threat to public safety, RCMP say he should not be approached.

He is described as 5-foot 8-inches in height, 185lb, with hazel eyes, brown hair and a fair complexion.
