VANCOUVER, B.C.–Container truck drivers will hold a rally in downtown Vancouver to protest the BC government’s March 19 announcement that it will introduce forced-work legislation.

“Truck drivers, like everyone else, deserve to be able to make a living. That is all this dispute has ever been about,” said Paul Johal, President of Unifor-Vancouver Container Truckers’ Association (VCTA).

“We simply want to negotiate a deal that will benefit all parties.”

Unifor National President Jerry Dias will be participating in the rally, which will involve container truck drivers and their supporters, and will take place at Canada Place in Vancouver at 12:00 pm local time.

  • had they not screwed up the rates & waiting times starting 22 years ago. they would not be in the mess they are.now they cry poverty when it is all self inflicted. if they had any balls at all they would all stay out and band together. the port needs them & they will eventually win. but all it takes is one to go back and it falls apart
    thanks charlie

  • the goverment is not in the trucking buisness so they can’t legislate them back to work! these truckers have been giving the port a free ride for a long time and now that the price of running a trucking company is getting out of control because of fuel , insurance, and goverment RED TAPE and OVER REGULATION, these truckers need to stick together and dictate the terms of doing buisness by tripling the rate and waiting time be $100 an hour after the first half hour,no more free time !!
