FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Deputy assistant secretary for transportation at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Reuben Sarkar has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 2016 Green Truck Summit.

The event will run in conjunction with the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Ind. from March 1-4, with Sarkar providing his address on the opening day.

Sarkar supervises the sustainable transportation sector of the office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, including the Vehicle, Fuel Cell and Bioenergy Technologies offices, which works on new ways to make transportation cleaner and more efficient.

“We are fortunate to have Reuben Sarkar at the Work Truck Show as our keynote speaker this year,” said Doyle Sumrall, NTEA (The Association for the Work Truck Industry) managing director. “He is very influential in the guidance and assistance the Department of Energy delivers to our industry. DOE provides the funding and, ultimately, the direction for many of the research programs that will help guide the future of technology, fuel savings and the reduction of greenhouse gases and other pollutants. Sarkar is one of the key people at DOE who have their hands on the steering wheel of where research and programs impacting the vocational truck industry are heading.”

The Green Truck Summit is an alternative fuels and advanced technology conference that will provide general sessions these environmentally friendly efforts from vocational truck and energy industry experts.
