Ryder’s natural gas fleet hits 20 million green miles

MIAMI, Fla. -- Ryder System’s natural fleet gas fleet has reached the 20 million mile mark.

MIAMI, Fla. — Ryder System’s natural fleet gas fleet has reached the 20 million mile mark.
The fleet contains over 500 vehicles and consists of liquefied natural gas and compressed natural gas tractors. The natural gas vehicle program was launched in 2011 and Ryder claims the program has replaced 3.1 million gallons of diesel with domestic natural gas.
“This latest milestone reinforces Ryder’s continued leadership in commercial natural gas vehicle solutions and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to assist companies who seek alternatives to reduce fuel costs, carbon output, and meet their environmental objectives,” said Ryder chairman and CEO, Robert Sanchez. “As a provider of full service lease, commercial rental, and dedicated transportation services, our business model puts us in a unique position to enable more fleets to convert to natural gas and realize the benefits of this cost-effective, clean, and domestic energy source.”
Ryder’s natural gas vehicles are available for rent or lease. Its “Flex-to-Green Lease” allows businesses to start out with a diesel-powered vehicle and then have the option to convert to natural gas vehicles anytime after the first year of the lease.
