LEAMINGTON, Ont. — A trucking company owner in southern Ontario will do time in jail, after being charged with dumping waste at an unapproved site.

North Shore Express was fined $150,000 and its owner, Daniel Andrew Tiessen will serve a 30-day jail sentence after the company dropped its appeal of the charges and sentence, according to a report in the Windsor Star.

The Ministry of the Environment did not approve a site where North Shore was accused of dumping waste in 2008. Charges followed in October 2011. Before that, in 2005, the company was warned by the council of Leamington to stop spreading tomato waste on nearby fields.

  • Finally. Justice is done. Tiessen and his partner across the road from me have been the scourge of this lovely area for years.
