Vedder Transport doubles down on LNG, while Bison gets out
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Vedder Transport has added to its fleet of liquefied natural gas-powered Class 8 trucks, by purchasing Bison Transport’s 15 LNG-powered Peterbilts.
In a memo to staff, Fred Zweep, president of Vedder Transportation Group, said the company is “pleased to reaffirm our belief in natural gas technology, demonstrated by our decision today to purchase Bison Transport’s 15 Peterbilt manufactured LNG Class 8 highway tractor fleet.”
Zweep said the trucks will be deployed within a new division – yet to be named – hauling dairy products within the Central/North Okanogan region in B.C. and the Lower Mainland.
The acquisition brings Vedder’s LNG fleet to 65 units, making it the largest natural gas vehicle fleet in Western Canada, according to the company.
The trucks will be delivered to Peterbilt Pacific, where they’ll be overhauled to meet Vedder’s needs. They should go into service Nov. 1, Zweep said.
