ACT Research: Class 8 supply rising faster than demand
COLUMBUS, Ind. – According to the most recent For-Hire Trucking Index from ACT Research the supply of Class 8 trucks is rising faster than demand.
“The capacity index [supply] rose faster than the freight index [demand] for the fifth consecutive month and the eleventh time in the past thirteen months in January,” said Steve Tam, ACT’s vice-president, commercial vehicle sector. “While this measure had been getting better (less unfavourable) in previous months, a clear fall-off in freight caused the index to deteriorate further in January.”
In addition, the research group found that fleets in the survey noted that the East Coast blizzard in January had a deleterious effect on freight volume
