A delicate balancing act

KIRKLAND, Que. — Balance Masters (Canada) has rolled out its solution to headaches associated with some traditional methods for keeping truck tires in a state of equilibrium.

The Self Adjusting Wheel Balancer offers both performance and savings, the company charges. Its continuous balancing system works by centrifugal force, which positions liquid mercury in counter-weight positions.

This eliminates the lumping effect experienced with other shot-filled, hub-mounted products. It’s this clumping of the weight that leads to not only tire damage, according to the company, but also premature failure in a wide variety of components as serious as cracked frame rails and cross members.

As an additional benefit, the Balance Master system works with gravity to create a downward force on the truck. This holds the tire down and creates a larger footprint leading to better control in adverse conditions.
