GERALDTON, Ont. — About 100 aboriginal demonstrators detoured truckers and travellers past boarded-up homes on a Northern Ontario reserve after the band blocked the Trans-Canada Highway last Friday.
Members of the Nishnawbe-aski First Nation say the protests may continue if they are joined by members of other bands from the area as expected. The blockade is an effort to draw public attention to toxic mould that forced 350 Long Lake residents to leave their homes.
Road users were rerouted about 300 metres through the reserve.
