ALL-WEATHER ROAD COULD BE IN WORKS

FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — An all-weather road linking Fort McMurray, Alta. and La Loche, Sask. may become a reality, thanks to a helping hand from the city of Saskatoon.

In a recent meeting with Fort McMurray politicians, Saskatoon officials said they will do anything they can to help upgrade the winter road, which would boost tourism and increase access to logging companies.

"We have some forestry on that road: (Alberta Pacific Forest Industries) is doing some cutting in that area right now," says Wood Buffalo Coun. Maggie Lent-O’Forhan.

Upgrading the road would provide truck drivers with better year-round access to the logging company and would give La Loche residents an easier route to Fort McMurray.
