SASKATOON, Sask. — International Road Dynamics (IRD) have been awarded a $1 million contract to implement their Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) technology at two Arizona weigh stations.

The Canadian-company has developed technology, which will weigh each truck as it travels by, directing trucks that are overweight into the weigh stations for inspections.

Captain Steve Abney of the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles says the new systems will benefit trucking companies, as those in compliance will no longer have to stop for inspection.

“We are pleased to be installing IRD’s Single Load Cell WIM technology. These systems will allow us to accomplish our goal of protecting the State’s highway infrastructure while at the same time streamlining the operation and reducing delays to the trucking industry,” says Abney.

IRD’s WIM technology is gaining steam in the U.S., but has yet to be widely accepted in their home nation.
