B.C. truck driving champions honoured

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — The top drivers in B.C. were recently awarded at the province’s Professional Truck Driving Championships.

The annual competition was held June 12 in Abbotsford and each winner will represent the province at the national championships in Lethbridge, Alta. on Sept. 17-18.

The winners included: Step van, John Court, Reimer Express Lines; straight truck, Jim Williams, Reimer Express; single tractor-single trailer, Evan Hirst, Canadian Freightways; single tractor-tandem trailer, Dale Scott, Canadian Freightways; tandem tractor-tandem trailer, Bill Alexander, Canadian Freightways; and on b-train, David Lighton, Northwest Tank Lines.

The Grand Champion was Reimer’s Williams while Lance Tenhoeve, also of Reimer won Rookie of the Year honours. The safety award went to Lighton.
