Ballard acquires part of Textron
VANCOUVER, B.C. — Ballard Power Systems has acquired Wilmington, Mass.-based Textron Systems’ carbon products business unit for US$12.8 million.
The transaction is expected to close by May 25. The business unit develops and manufactures various carbon materials for automotive and fuel cell applications, including a gas diffusion layer, a key component in fuel cell design.
The unit will now be known as Ballard Material Products Inc. It will be a completely owned subsidiary and will employ over 50 people in a 137,000-sq. ft. facility.
