JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Cargo theft is on the rise across the US.

According to the data release by CargoNet today, cargo theft is up 11% in the last three months when compared to the same time last year.

While California, Florida, and Illinois have the biggest decreases in cargo theft, New Jersey and Texas cargo theft has increased.

CargoNet found that Texas’ cargo theft is up 27%. A majority of thefts in the state come from just three counties: Dallas, Harris, and Tarrant.

Over the last three years, CargoNet has found that there is a rise in theft incidents reported during the July 4th holiday.
