Central Ontario Regionals set stage for provincial truck driving championships

CAMBRIDGE, Ont. — Home Hardware drivers shone at the Central Ontario Regional Truck Driving Championships over the weekend, capturing the Team Award and several other categories.

The top-placing drivers will go to compete against Toronto Regional championship winners July 11 in London, Ont. to see who will represent Ontario in the Nationals this fall in Regina, Sask. On-road editor Harry Rudolfs competed in the tandem-tandem division, sponsored by Truck News. Look for his full first-hand report from the competition later this week.

Grand Champion was Shawn Matheson of Home Hardware Stores. The Safety Award went to Bryon Winfield, also of Home Hardware. The Rookie Award winner was Andrew Demerchant of Flanagan Foods Service.

Taking the Team Award for Home Hardware were: Wayne Burnett, Matheson and Joe Kuntz.
