ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Con-Way Transportation Services has named Richard C. Smith as general manager of Con-Way Canada Express, a less-than-truckload freight carrier based in Mississauga, Ont.

Smith will manage the daily operations and sales efforts of all the company’s 27 Canadian service centers.

Smith has been with Con-Way since 1995, most recently as a service center manager at the company’s Hamilton, Ontario terminal. He began his transportation career in 1987 with another carrier as an assistant dispatcher and held various operating positions there before joining CON-WAY.

Additionally, Con-Way has promoted James E. Probst from national account executive to director of national sales for the eastern region of the United States and Canada.
