DALLAS, Tx. – Today, Daimler Truck North American and Freightliner Trucks have reached major milestones.

DTNA has installed it’s 100,000th Detroit Virtual Technician remote diagnostic system and Freightliner has reached 20,000 members in its online community, Team Run Smart.

As soon a check engine light comes on, Virtual Technician provides a technical snapshot of the powertrain’s status, reducing downtiew and lowering maintenance costs.

“Virtual Technician helps our customers lower their real cost of ownership by keeping them on the road longer,” said Matt Pfaffenbach, director of Telematics for Daimler Trucks North America. “We’ve collected more than 8 billion miles of data to provide our engineers real-world information that will continue to benefit our customers through our ongoing product improvement and development efforts.”

The 20,000th member of Team Run Smart is Robyn Taylor of Enfield, Conn. She travels with her husband Bill and they have been driving for more than 15 years.

“Team Run Smart and its contributors provide helpful insights into growing a successful business,” said Taylor. “I appreciate the real-life experiences shared by other professional drivers, and often turn to forums such as TruckSmart and BusinessSmart for advice.”

Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing at Freightliner Trucks commented: “When we launched Team Run Smart two years ago, our goal was to create an interactive community to foster engagement and sharing of best industry practices. We’re pleased that Team Run Smart has evolved into a go-to industry resource for drivers and managers who want to advance in the business of trucking.”
