EDMONTON, Alta. — Federal Transport Minister David Collenette recently penned a deal with Alberta Transportation that will provide Alberta with $92.4 million over five years for highway spending.

The joint funding agreement is the second one signed by Collenette under the $600 million Strategic Highway Infrastructure Program announced in April.

Alberta Transportation wasted no time in earmarking the funds for certain projects, the first of which will be construction of a new intersection at Hwy. 16 and Campsite Road.

Other projects are currently being reviewed to determine how the remainder of the money will be spent.

Collenette announced "This funding agreement between the Government of Canada and the province of Alberta will soon result in real improvements to our highway infrastructure."
